Day 24

The tattoo seems to be even lighter today. However, I am worried about one spot. I had one small remaining scab that fell off tonight. The place where it fell off of is a black hole in my foot. It is in the same place where the smell was coming from before the blister came off. I will call tomorrow and see if I should be worried or not.

Day 21

What a difference a day makes. I woke up this morning with most of my scab still intact and lost all of it throughout the day. After my shower tonight the last little bit came off. I saw the person who did my laser treatment today and she said the pink is healing skin so it will be lighter when it completely heals.
It already is so much lighter than it was originally. I asked the clinic to send me a picture of the tattoo before we did any treatments, so hopefully I will be able to post a before picture soon.

Day 20

The scab is beginning to peel away on the top. It is hard to see from the pictures, but it looks like there is very little ink underneath. I am a little worried about the area where the blister rubbed off. It is shiny and I don't know if that is just because it is healing or if it is an indication of scarring.

Day 19

The area of the clear blister has gotten larger over the last 4 days. I decided to leave the area uncovered for a couple of days in hopes that it would dry up. Today I wore my flip flops without thinking and the strap rubbed the blister off. It did not hurt, but man did it smell. Yuck!
I learned my lesson and will keep it covered while wearing my shoes.
The scab is still there and only a few very small places have started to clear up. The light area is where there is still a blister and the shiny area is where the blister was rubbed off.

Day 15

The blood blisters have finally cleared up, but now there is a new blister that is clear in the middle. I noticed a light blood tinged fluid coming out of it after the shower this morning. When I went to wipe the blood it was very foul smelling. Honestly it smelled like an animal crawled up and died in my foot. I called the clinic and the Doctor there was not worried because there is no swelling, redness, or pain. The red covering the entire tattoo is all a scab and not the ink color.

Laser tattoo removal

When I first decided to remove my tattoo on the top of my foot I searched the internet for hours looking for any personal accounts of what to expect. I was disappointed to find very little information.
I finally decided to go ahead with laser tattoo removal on March 22nd. I have tried to take photographs each day to show how the healing process progressed for me.
Beware, the pictures are not pretty.
And unfortunately I don't have a picture of the tattoo before I started the process.

The first treatment itself wasn't so bad. The place I had it done did a great job at numbing the area with ice beforehand. I left there thinking, wow, this was so much easier than I thought it would be. Little did I know that five minutes after leaving I would be dying. Okay, maybe not dying, but it felt like my foot was in an oven and I couldn't take it out. It reminded me of when I had braces put on my teeth as a child and was left wondering when the pain would go away. Fortunately for me the pain only lasted about 2 and a half hours, instead of 4 days like it did with the braces.
After the initial pain subsided, it just felt tender like a bruise for several days. I did swell quite a bit in the beginning, but I also swelled when I got the tattoo. The fluid in my foot made it a little difficult to walk.

This is how my foot looked 24 Hours after the first treatment. Not so bad, or so I thought ;) The tattoo is already significantly lighter than it was.

The red on my foot is from the damage from the laser and not the tattoo ink.
